Session 2 of The Innovation Commons was led by Alpesh Doshi – investor, entrepreneur, venture builder and startup mentor.

With his background in financial services, banking, fintech and entrepreneurship, Alpesh was well placed to guide our participants through the ins and outs of startup/corporate dealmaking. The session began with a challenge from Alpesh to the group: buyers don’t get taught how to buy.
This theme spun out several new lines of questioning on sales process, strategy, commercial terms and IP. Groups formed to identify common pain points in the sales process and fired further questions at problems, to work around the issue.

The group consisted of startups operating in financial technology, retail technology, corporate finance and regtech. We’ve recapped highlights of the session, and group work, below.
